How much mulch do you need?
Your first step is to figure out the square footage of your beds. Measure the length and width of your bed and multiply them as shown below.
Then you will want to add the square footage of all of your beds.
Next decide how thick you want to go with your mulch. Using the conversion chart below you can determine how many yards of mulch you will need.

Bagged Mulch VS Bulk Mulch
The mulch that is bought from big box stores is generally sold by the bag. These bags come in various sizes ranging from 1 cubic foot to 3 cubic feet of mulch per bag. Below is a conversion table that shows you how many bags it takes depending on size to equal one cubic yard.
